Dining

Honestly?  I don’t think I could list every restaurant here in Rockport, (nor could I keep up with openings and closings)  I find this link the best to list with reviews from folks like you, all of our dining here in Rockport-Fulton.  I’ve been to many, but not all as I try to keep myself from getting stuck in doorways, as I’ve got enough cushions.  I’ve listed a few of my local favorites (below), because that’s what I’m mostly asked.  Mind you, sometimes I just go because of the atmosphere and the Margaritas!

495 Chesapeake Eats
Specializing in Maryland Style Cuisine and craft cocktails.

Shempy’s Grill
This is one of my favorite places.  It’s small, but packed with “Party in the mouth” items from Steaks, AWEsome “Sliders”, that are as big as Paul Bunyan’s fist.  And lots of choices from grilled, fried, and blackened.  Fish, steak, and too many things to mention.  Don’t be a snob (I actually witnessed this) and turn around, as with the small size you may just meet so many interesting people from EVERYwhere!  Oh!  P.S…..the bread pudding is VERY good!  I get it to go, and pretend that I’m not stuffing it in my mouth by picking at it at my leisure.  I’m sure it fools everyone.

This restaurant is on the official “Texas Bucket List”

Address: 3911 Highway 35 S • (361)727-0019

Apple Dumpling Deli
Their Mantra: “Our goal is to continue a 16-year tradition of great food, with a renewed focus on customer satisfaction”.

All sandwiches are made to order & served with pickle slices. You have a choice of fresh bread.  This is also one of my favorite lunch spots.  It happens to be soooo many other’s too, as it can be crowded during the lunch “hour”.  I’ve learned to go to an early lunch, or a late lunch.  The wait staff is busy, busy, so don’t be put off if they don’t “visit” with you, but it’s friendly and the sandwiches and soups are delicious.

Paradise Key Bar and Grill
Seafood, burgers, tropical drinks and beautiful views of the bay.

Honestly, I never get tired of this place because it’s one of my very favorites.  I’ll list in order:

  1. Atmosphere (inside and outside dining by the bay)
  2. Mango Margarita
  3. Breeze
  4. Mango Margarita
  5. Good service (please, if you have bad service don’t tell me.  It’s not normal or you’re just seriously picky or used to fast food)
  6. Family friendly
  7. Dog friendly (outside)  Yes, our babies are welcome as long as their nice)
  8. They love my granddaughter.

Chery’s Restaurant and Saloon.  (I’ve always called it Cheryl’s by the Bay)

“Cheryl’s Super Fabulous Sunday Brunch With Grumpy People”

My note: (by Grumpy People, I think she may mean the customers that think my Grandbaby is toooo loud. haha!  Visit her website, she will tell it like it is, but it’s a great experience, and her Sunday Brunch (c’mon splurge with the Bloody Mary upgrade) is wonderful.  Honestly, unless someone tells me different, The Eggs Benedict (with duck fat potatoes) is so good, I go inside of myself.
